ABC is expected to announce that Michael Strahan will be named Regis Philbin‘s replacement, joining Kelly Ripa as a Live co-host.

According to Broadcasting & Cable, Strahan will keep his role at Fox NFL Sunday. Strahan, “a former defensive star in the NFL, was also the star of a (brief) sitcom for Fox, Brothers.”
Since Philbin’s departure from the show in late 2011, several names have been rumored to replace him, including Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyers. The show has been cycling through guest hosts in the absence of a permanent co-host.
